Karen A. Davie, MSW was honored as the Outstanding Fundraising Professional of the Year 2009
Karen is Senior Vice President, Philanthropy and Governance at Women and Infants Hospital. She has developed a hospital-wide strategic philanthropy focus and has collaborated with CEO and Chairman of the Board to advance board overnance best practices. During her tenure, Women & Infants has exceeded its initial $16 million ONWARD Campaign target and is poised to acheive a record breaking $22 million campaign total. The ONWARD Campaign has generated more seven-, six-, and five-figure gifts than were received in the hospital's 125-year history.
In addition, Ms. Davie has led several high-visibility national health related organizations. Ms. Davie served simultaneously as the CEO and President of three national hospice organizations, the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, the National Hospice Foundation and the National Hospice Insurance Agency.
Prior to that, Ms Davie held a number of senior executive positions with Uniter Way of America; served as Chief of Staff to Lietenant Governor Roger Begin, managed his election and re-election campaigns and was first Vice President of Goverment Relations at the United Way of Southeastern New England (now UW of Rhode Island).
In 2008, Ms. Davie received Rhode Island College's Charles B. Willard Award which is given to a graduate who brings honor to the College by distinguished achievement in his or her field. Ms. Davie currently serves on the board of United Way of RI and serves as an adjunct faculty member at Rhode Island College in the David E. Sweet Center for Public Policy. Ms. Davie is a member of AFP-RI, the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy, the Association of American Medical Colleges and the Advisory Board Company. A graduate of Leadership Rhode Island, she served on the Program Committee.
Ms. Davie graduated magna cum laude from Rhode Island College, was a visiting Sociology honors student at Purdue University and received a Masters of Social Work and Policy and Planning from the University of Connecticut. She resides in Providence with her husband, Garrison Hull.
