Advancing philanthropy through education, training and advocacy
About National Philanthropy DayEach November, local chapters of the Association for Fundraising Professionals throughout the world set aside one special day to recognize the signifigant impact of philanthropy and it's called National Philanthropy Day (NPD). NPD acknowledges the entire spectrum of services provided by the nonprofit community and recognizes the profound impact that philanthropy has on the fabric of society. AFP-RI has proclaimed Tuesday, November 23, 2010 as National Philanthropy Day in Rhode Island. Since 1987, The Association of Fundraising Professionals Rhode Island (AFP-RI) and over 80 non-profit organizations come together to honor corporations, small businesses, individuals and groups. Through hard work and dedication, these individuals and businesses have enhanced philanthropy and volunteering, in Rhode Island and Southeastern New England communities. They have made a difference in the lives of men, women, children and animals. Community Awards are presented by AFPRI to an Outstanding Philanthropic Citizen, Service Organization, Business and Corporation. Recogition is given to more than 80 Partners in Philanthropy (PIPs) by non-profit organizations who want to honor outstanding volunteers and donors. Click on Partners in Philanthropy to learn more about how your organization can thank and honor a person who has furthered the achievement of your organizations mission through signifigant generosity, outstanding leadership or exemplary volunteer contributions. The Herbert Kaplan Youth in Philanthropy Scholarship is awarded to a local high school senior who exemplifies the qualities and characteristics of a young philanthropist.
